*They say I'm better off now
Than I ever was with her
As they take me to my local down the street
I'm smiling but I'm dying trying not to drag my feet
They say a few drinks will help me to forget her*
Allister stumbled into the pub, Alfred and Arthur pushing him in, Gilbert, Francis, and Antonio following. They push him on a bar stool, they knew that the quicker they got the Scotsman drunk, the better. They call the bartender, ordering the strongest whiskey and when it arrives Allister downs it like its water.
"Another," he growls. Arthur relaxes a little, thinking that his brother's back to normal. He never expected you to break up with him. The Englishman didn't understand why, but he knew that drink was always the answer to girl problems. When he glances back at Allister he is surprised to see seven more empty shot glasses and more on their way.
"Um, dude, maybe you should slow down," Alfred says, sipping his all American beer. Allister just growls at him.
"Si, amigo, there are many fish in the sea," Antonio agrees eying the waitress.
"Don't ye be tellin' me w'at ta do," Now Arthur is starting to worry, Allister's accent gets thicker when he get more mad and he's drinking more than usual, even for the Scotsman.
"Hey, no pressure, the more you drink the more you forget that trashy chick," Alfred laughs. Allister grabs him by the collar and yells, making the whole bar back away from them. Francis tries to pull them apart, but they brush him off.
"Don't ye be insultin' me girl!" he screams. Alfred pushes him back and glares at him. The two have never been friends, but Al's always up for a drink.
"She's not 'your' girl any more," Arthur reminds him gently.
"Maybe the awesome me will look her up," Gilbert jokes. That was the final straw. Arthur and Francis saw it coming and grabbed Allister before he could murder Gilbert.
*But after one too many I know that I'll never
Only they can't see where this is gonna end
They all think I'm crazy but to me it's perfect sense*
Allister stumbles out of the bar, countless shots later with Arthur, Francis and Antonio following to make sure he doesn't hurt himself. Allister stops in the middle of the street, confused about where he is and why you aren't there.
"(NAME)" he yells, desperate to find you. Arthur grabs his arm.
"Amigo, she not here, the chica left you," Antonio says softly.
"We should get him home before he does something he'll regret," Francis comments.
"Allister, let's just go home," Arthur says gently. Allister yanks his arm violently from Arthur's grip.
"No! I'm a no' goin' anywhere till I find her!" he slurs loudly and starts walking in the direction of your house.
*And my mates are all there trying to calm me down
'Cause I'm shouting your name all over town
I'm swearing if I go there now
I can change her mind turn it all around *
Allister stumbles down the street, remembering earlier the worst moment of his life. He still flinches at the memory of your face as you realized he wasn't going to say it back. He stops and leans against the wall of a shop and buries his face in his hands. He knows that Arthur and the rest of them can't be far behind.
"Allister," You says, looking him in the eyes.
"Yes, lass?" he smiles at you, his girlfriend of now a year. You two were so perfect for each other and were the happiest couple your friends knew. You were the only one who could calm his temper, especially since he gets so jealous so easily.
"I....I love you," you say. You've been meaning to tell him this for awhile, but were looking for the right moment. You waited with baited breath for him to say something, anything.
He looks at you stunned, not saying anything. After a moment, he still didn't say anything. You felt your heart break when he rubs the back of your neck and won't meet your eyes.
"Lass......." As he trails off not really knowing what to say. His mouth began to get dry and he knew that if he looked at you he would feel worse than he did now. Tears formed in your eyes and you run away, your heart now in shards at his feet. He tried to call after you, but his voice cracks and he can't think of any other word than: sorry. But he knows it won't help.
*So I stumble there, along the railings and the fences
I know if we're face to face then she'll come to her senses
Every drunk step I take leads me to her door
If she sees how much I'm hurting, she'll take me back for sure*
Only when you were gone did he realize how much he did love you. Allister figures now, all he has to do is find you and tell you, then everything will be back to normal. He'll never let you go again and everything will be perfect. Allister picks himself up, and sets out in the direction of your apartment.
By the time Arthur, Antonio and Francis catch up to him, they're panting.
"Allister, what do you think you're doing?" Arthur asks, nervously.
"I'm a goin' after me lass," Allister grumbles.
"She left you," Francis sighs almost impatiently. Allister ignores him and keeps walking. Arthur moves to grab him again but Allister gives him a look of pure anger.
"I said, I be goin' after me lass. Now, ye can eithe' let me go or let me go while they" he gestures to Antonio and Francis, " be picking up yer pieces," With that Allister keeps walking, stumbling slightly from the shots.
*And I know that I'm drunk but I'll say the words
And she'll listen this time even though they're slurred
So I dialed her number and confessed to her
I'm still in love but all I heard
Allister pulls out his phone and stares at it for a moment, trying to figure out the buttons. After a minute he remembers which buttons are which and dials your number. He waits impatiently for you to pick up and curses loudly when it goes to voice mail.
"Shut up!" some guy yells from a near by apartment.
"Why don't ye come out here and make me!" Allister yells back. Then he here's the beep of the answering machine and your voice. He pauses, momentarily calm by the sound of your voice.
'Hey, it's me. Sorry I can't answer you now, but leave your name and number and I'll call you back,' the phone says with your voice.
"I love ye, it's me and I love ye, I love ye...IloveyeIloveyeIlouveye. Please come back...please, I didn't know till ye," the silent sound of the machine breaks his heart, "....I need ye, I need ye and I love ye. Please forgive me, please....." The phone beeps off and he snaps the phone shut angrily. Allister considers calling again just to her voice on the answering machine, but knows he needs to see you in person.
You just got off the phone with your best friend Ivan, who offered to beat the Scotsman with his pipe, but you laughed and refused. Your eyes are red and tissues surround your couch, making you an island of heartbreak. You turn on the TV and a sappy movie comes on. You turn it off immediately. Why does everything remind you of him?
At the thought of him, tears rush to your eyes. You've been doing nothing but crying since you ran away from him. All he said was lass, in the voice so full of pity and awkwardness. Just thinking about it destroyed your heart all over again. Your phone buzzed on the table next to you and you checked the caller ID. Allister... Why was he calling? To make sure he had all your stuff before he left you? Or to apologize with more pity. You frown at the phone and ignore it. You dial Antonio's number. The Spaniard was another of your best friends and always made you laugh.
"Hola, chica. How are you?" he answered.
"I wanna die," you sniffed.
"I.....I told him I loved him...."
"He didn't," Antonio frowned at the phone. That explained a lot of Allister's behavior tonight, but he knew the Scotsman cared deeply for you.
"It doesn't matter now," you interrupted, "Now I need to move on with my life. Thank you, Antonio, for making me realize that," you smile sadly and hang up. You don't want to hear anyone defend him, you couldn't take it right now. A loud knock interrupted your train of thoughts. You walk over to the door and open it to Allister.
He takes one look at you then immediately moves forward and kisses you, one hand going into your hair, the other around your waist, keeping you from moving away. He tasted of whiskey, lots and lots of whiskey and he tried to force his tongue into your mouth, but you move your head away.
"Allister look-" But your cut of by his lips on your again. You almost kiss back, his lips are soft and warm and familiar, but you know something's not right. This time you push him away completely, you have to. You can't think when he's that close to you.
"No you can't do this, you can't just come in here an expect everything to be ok!" you yell at him. "I told you I loved you! You didn't say anything!" All your pent up anger comes out. He looks at you for a moment.
"I love ye," He says softly. You snort cruelly and turn away from him.
* She said nothing
Oh, I wanted words but all I heard was nothing
Oh, I got nothing
Oh, I got nothing
Oh, I wanted words but all I heard was nothing*
After a awful silent moment, you sigh.
"Now you love me," You laugh darkly.
"Ye', now I love ye. Now that I've ha' to try to live without ye, I realize I can no'" he speaks almost slurred, but sincerely. You turn to him with a face of disbelief.
"Really?" you ask. He nods.
"Really," As soon as the words come out of his mouth you kiss him, arms around his neck, joy exploding from your heart. He kisses you back with possessiveness, thinking of how much he wanted to beat up Gilbert for even thinking about being with his girl. He'll get to that later. Now he just focuses on kissing you, as if to brand you. Eventually you break away to breath, but he just continues to kiss down your neck, leaving a large mark that will tell anyone just who you belong to. Then he goes back to your mouth, both of you smiling now as he closes the front door of the apartment for privacy.
